With a huge afro, Adrienne Fish has been making her mark on Canada’s comedy scene. Based out of Toronto, Adrienne has recorded four nationally aired TV tapings, has appeared on CBC’s The Debaters, Just for Laughs, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and was most recently nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award.
THE FLIRTY BOYS
The Flirty Boys are four very flirty grown women with sketch in their blood. With resumés that include The Sketchersons, Second City Mainstage, and Ladystache, they will charm you onstage and off with their fast-paced, smart, and silly jokes. They are: Alessandra Vite, Alexandra Wylie, Allison Hogg and Ann Pornel. They’ve appeared at JFL42, the Women in Comedy Festival Toronto Sketchfest and Montréal Sketchfest.
Michael Moses is one of the fastest rising stars in Canada with a win at the 2014 Go Yuk Yourself Competition, a finalist at the 2015 Brantford Rising Stars Competition, a headliner at the 2017 Border City Comedy Festival, and was a part of the 2017 Devil's Cup Comedy Festival in New York City. He has opened for Big Jay Oakerson and Randy and Lahey of The Trailer Park Boys. Michael is definitely a comedian you will be happy you saw today.
Once described as a marriage between David Lynch and Mr. Bean, this 2-man improv powerhouse has been nominated for many many comedy awards, and won a few. On top of that they’ve performed at improv festivals around around the world in New York, Las Angeles, Boston, Detroit, Edinburgh, Toronto and more.
Ana MariJA StOJIC
Ana-Marija was featured in NBC Showcase in the Women in Comedy Festival Boston 2018. She has participated and shone in a number of competitions across North America. She was a finalist in the Sirius XM’s Next Top Comic Competition 2017 and a semi-finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition in 2017.
THE MAKING-BOX BRIGADE
The Making-Box Brigade is Guelph, Ontario’s own professional improv and sketch ensemble. Made up of fiercely funny friends, this troupe has a solid foundation in comedy and friendship. Together, they headline at Guelph’s premier Comedy Theatre and Training Centre for sold out audiences every Friday night. They’re also festival Darlings at Hillside, Detroit Improv Festival, Ottawa Improv Festival and Toronto Sketch Fest.
Sex T-Rex (née Sexual Tyrannosaurus) is a Toronto-based Comedy troupe whose cinematic style, wild physicality and spot-on parody has delighted audiences across Canada and the USA. Accolades include Best of a ton of Fringe Fests and awards from Just for Laughs and Second City.
Comedian. Writer. Future Real Housewife of Atlanta. He's a Tim Sims Award nominated comedian, a Telefilm New Voices Award winning writer, and the reigning Jann Arden karaoke champion of the world. Also creator of Toronto’s only LGBTQ+ POC show The Ethnic Ranbow and recently featured on Just for Laughs and JFL42.
Mark DeBonis took the plunge into stand up in 2008. In 2010 he won a Canadian Comedy award for “Best New Comer”. He followed that by winning the $25,000 grand prize for “The Great Canadian Laugh Off”. Mark has performed multiple times at the International Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, CBC’s “The Debaters” Much Music, and Comedy Network.
The Sketchersons are Toronto’s go to comedy troupe. They have performed across Canada and the United States, including at the 2005 and 2006 Montreal Fringe Festivals, the 2006 New York Fringe Festival, the 2008 Just For Laughs Sketch Comedy Gala in Toronto, the 2009 Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, and at the 2012 JFL42 Festival.
Adam Nicolle started comedy at the age of 15 and since then he has continued to age. A drama kid and an avid writer, he's guaranteed to have jokes that his friends say are "pretty good". Adam performs comedy locally at the Making-Box and really locally at his bedroom mirror.
Katie McLean made her foray into stand up earlier this year. Her humour filled commentary on the mundane moments of life will keep you thinking about the oddities of our world long after she leaves the stage. She has been described by new friends as "a barnacle you can't get rid of", a title she wears with great pride.
Hayley has spent most of her life celebrating two things: Ontario peaches and the joys of improv. Naturally she was filled with pride to be nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award: Best Female Improviser (2015) as well as NOW Magazine's Best Female Improviser (2015). She is honoured to be recognized as a Woman of Distinction (2018), Guelph's Top 40 Under 40 (2016) and is a Rhyze Accademy Mentor. Hayley has a long history with the world renowned Second City, has taught and performed across the globe and has kissed Colin Mochrie on the mouth. Twice.
Maria Nicole is a stand-up comic who doesn't use her real last name because she thinks stage names are cooler. She has been performing comedy for over a year in Guelph, Hamilton, and Toronto. Her therapist once described her as “a baby comic”, but not so baby anymore are we, Helen? This baby comic is going through some special comedic changes and performing in her very first comedy festival!! Take that, Helen.
Jason is a comedian at the Guelph Comedy Festival. He is also a comedian because of the Guelph Comedy Festival. That's right! Jason attended a standup workshop that was part of the 2016 GCF, and finally decided to give it a try.
As a member of The Making-Box Brigade, and regular host and stand-up at The Making-Box, Jason tells tales ranging from his childhood, to his child, and all that happened in between. Jason's life has provided plenty of material. A problem shared, is a problem halved, so let his problems make you laugh.
Like a dollar store toy, Rob Mitchell promises to entertain you for approximately 5-7 minutes. Rob has spent the last year on The Making-Box stage performing comedic songs and sharing his dispatches from the front lines of Fatherhood. A picker. A grinner. A lover and a sinner. He has also been known to play his my music in the sun.
