THE FUTURE IS FUNNY (GCF 2019 EDITION): FT. GILLIAN BARTOLUCCI + THE PHLEGM FATALES

20.00

Female and non-binary performers are taking over the Canadian Comedy Scene (and the world!)

The Future Is Funny is Guelph’s only all female and non-binary comedy show. We celebrate and represent the funny women in our community, and the comedy community at large. This special Guelph Comedy Fest edition features an all-woman and non-binary lineup of improv, sketch and maybe a little extra somethin-somethin.

FEATURING: THE WOMEN OF THE BRIGADE
The Making-Box Brigade is Guelph, Ontario’s own professional improv and sketch ensemble. Made up of fiercely funny friends, this troupe has a solid foundation in comedy and friendship. Together, they headline at Guelph’s premier Comedy Theatre and Training Centre for sold out audiences every Friday night. They’re also festival Darlings at Hillside, Detroit Improv Festival, Ottawa Improv Festival and Toronto Sketch Fest.

FEATURING: THE PHLEGM FATALES
The Phlegm Fatales are an all female/non-binary improv troupe and they are sickening. Hayley Kellett, Clarissa Shepherd, Kayla Simms, Emily Vance and Erin Watson formed this troupe after meeting at The Making-Box in 2019. These five fierce feminists are here to celebrate and share their voice through strangeness, truth and hopefully laughter that shoots snot rockets from your nostrils - consensually of course.

HEADLINER: GILLIAN BARTOLUCCI’S THE WEIGHT OF IT ALL
The Weight of It All is an original solo sketch comedy revue written and performed by Gillian Bartolucci (The Sketchersons, Just For Laughs, JFL42), directed by Carly Heffernan (Second City Toronto, Second City Chicago, She The People), and features a uterine fibroid that makes Gillian look 5 months pregnant! The Weight of It All is a hormonal journey that makes pit stops along body image, disordered eating, fertility issues, the new sex ed curriculum, and death, all while Mercury is in retrograde! The Weight of It All is a mission to find value in the things that cannot be measured with a scale. This show will make you laugh, cry, and order fries with no shame!

Where: The Making-Box Comedy Theatre (43 Cork St. E - Accessible & Gender Neutral)
When: Thursday, October 17
Time: Doors: 8:30PM / Showtime: 9:00PM
